On the north side of the Southern Velebit ridge there are Visočica and Panos summits. The access point for bikers is Rizvanuša valley near the highway Gospić-Karlobag. Visočica is the highest peak in this area and offering for sure one of the most beautiful views on Velebit mountain. Most of the route sections are the carriageways and there is the singletrack section at the ridge near Visočica. The orientation is easy and all the trail is labeled. Regarding mine fields the area on on the left side of the first section is labeled as the hazardous. Be careful don’t ride off the trail. The singletrack to Visočica peak is very steep and hiking with the bike is a must. Panos is the summit in neighborhood. It’s well known sightseeing point with the nice view to the Adriatic coast. All the trail is dry and rocky.

According to the last official information of the Nature Park Velebit, the access to the Panos military house and peak is not safe any more. The area near to the Panos military house is labeled as mine doubtful area. Don’t ride off the road, just follow the labels and warning signs near the house.

The mountain bike route starts in Rizvanuša village and valley. Follow the main paved road along the village. At the end of the village the paved road turns into unpaved road that leads to the south course. On the first cross turn left and few hundred meters later on the second one turn right. On the left side of the carriageway there are signs for hazardous area. After around 2.5km there is the crossroad again. Turn left for Visočica. The right turning leads to Panos and coming back from Visočica this will be the direction for Panos. After around 5km there is a crossroad. Turn left and after about 500m there is a junction. On the right side there are red/white labels for the singletrack to the Visočica summit. Follow the singletrack to the Visočica peak. Due to steep ascent it’s hard section and bike must be carried most of the time. If you want you can leave the bike in the forest. At the half of the section there are the ruins of the hut. Follow the labeled singletrack to the south east course. Just few hundred meters before the peak on the left side of the singletrack (around 10-15m from the trail) there is a spring of water named Ivino Vrelo. On Visočica peak there was a small radio relay station. After visiting Visočica peak ride back to the Panos section mentioned before.  From the crossroad for Panos that was mentioned before proceed on the carriageway in the direction to Jelova Ruja valley. After around 5km there is a crossroad. Turn right and a gradually ascent above Jelova Ruja valley proceeds directly to the Panos summit. Just near the Panos peak there are ruins of the military house (the radar and radio station). The area close to the Panos military house is labeled as mine field doubtful area. Don’t ride off the road, just follow the labels and warning signs near the house. Ride back to Rizvanuša valley using the same trail. For more details check above Map and below Gallery of the route.
