Veliki Troglav route is situated on Dinara mountain near the border line between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia. The summit Veliki Troglav is the highest peak of Dinara mountain at elevation of 1912 meters over the sea level. Most of the trail is dry and rocky carriageway. The carriageway ends at elevation of about 1600 meters over the sea level. From that point there is a labeled hiking trail to Velik Troglav peak. For safe navigation I recommend to use the GPS unit with uploaded route. The section of route at elevation of about more than 1400 meters over the sea level is placed in Bosnia and Herzegovina. There is no border labels on the carriageway along the Dinara ridge and there is no control of the border line. The route passes near doubtful areas and they are labeled as mine fields. In this areas do not ride off the road, just follow the labels and warning signs near the trail.

The starting point of the mountain bike route is Koljane village in Croatia. The village is situated near the highway along the east side of the lake named Peručko Jezero. From the highway turn on the paved road to the east course. After few hundred meters there is Koljane village. There is a water tank above the village. I started my route from the water tank. The first section is the ascent on the paved road. On the first crossroad turn left, pass the ramp and proceed on the rocky carriageway with few turnings. Proceed straight until reach the crossroad before the valley named Bravčev Dolac. Keep left and descend to the valley where are the ruins of the village. The trail passes near the graveyard. Keep the south east course on the carriageway along the village and the valley. At the end of Bravčev Dolac valley starts a steep and long ascent to the ridge of Dinara mountain. At the next crossroad at the elevation of about 1340 meters over the see level turn left on the labeled carriageway to the north west course. The name of this area is Goveđa Kosa and there is a labeled trail Vrdovo – Veliki Troglav. On some sections proceed on the carriageway because the trail is placed on the labeled hiking path where the ride isn’t possible any more. The hiking path just makes the shortcuts on some turns of the carriageway. Be careful to follow the labels on the crossroads of the carriageways. Until you reach the elevation of 1600 meters there are many steep ascents and shorts downs. You can leave the bike at the junction with the labeled hiking path to Veliki Troglav  peak and than hike to the peak. From the peak you can get very nice view on Bosnia & Herzegovina mountains. For come back I rode back to Goveđa Kosa and than proceed on the long labeled trail Veliki Troglav – Vrdovo. Vrdovo is the plateau on Dinara mountain. From Vrdovo follows the labeled unpaved road to Sinj city. At the end of plateau the unpaved road turns into paved road. The long descent with many turnings leads to Gornji Bitelić village. There is a church on the hill in the village. Just before the church turn right on the highway to the north west course. The highway turns to wide unpaved road along Peručko Jezero. Proceed straight until you reach the paved road for Koljane village. For more details check above Map and below Notes and Gallery of the route.
