Overview of mountain biking route:
Lička Plješivica is a mountain located near famous Plitvica Lakes National Park. Gola Plješevica peak at 1648m over the see level is a nice sightseeing point. Until 2007 the access was not possible because the road and some buildings were under the military control. In September 2007, I made the first reported ride on Lička Plješivica mountain.
Getting there: Europe, Croatia, Zagreb, Karlovac, Slunj, Plitvice, Kapela village.

Description of MTB route
The starting point of the mountain bike route is the crossroad on the main highway in the village Kapela. Following the direction Plitvice – Korenica, pass Motel Winnetou and on the next crossroad turn left on unpaved road to Lička Plješivica mountain. Most of the trail is along the forest. On the first crossroad turn right and on the next turn left than just follow the main unpaved road. The ascent is smooth and the complete trail is very easy. The last section of the trail is situated along the border line between Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. On the ridge the view is opened to Bihać airport and Bosnia and Herzegovina. There are ruins of military buildings on the peak named Gola Plješivica. On the south part of the ridge there is a civil radio relay station. According to some local rumors, some areas out of the road and near to the ridge are hazardous area due to the possible mine fields. It is not recommended to ride off the road on the section near the ridge. There are no limits of access on the road. For comeback I used the same trail. For more details check above interactive map and below elevation profile & Gallery of the route.
