Mountain Biokovo is situated along the Adriatic coast in the south Croatia. The peak Sveti Jure is the second highest mountain in Croatia at elevation of 1.762 meters over the see level. The area near the ridge belongs to protected Nature Park Biokovo. The trail starts from Makarska and there are 2 possible ways to Sveti Jure peak. I choose semi-circular trail. The mountain bike route is the mix of paved and unpaved roads. All unpaved roads are dry and rocky. On the ridge there are some carriageways around the main trail. You can use them for sightseeing too. The route can be combined with Makarska – Podbiokovlje route.

The starting point of the mountain bike route is the petrol station at the port of Makarska. Follow the main road along the Adriatic coast to the south course. There is a main labeled crossroad on the way out from Makarska. On the crossroad follow the direction to Vrgorac. From the crossroad follows the gradually ascent. After around 6,5km on the left side there is the crossroad for the main entrance into Nature Park Biokovo. Do not turn left into the park, just proceed straight for the next 8km when the next crossroad appears. On the crossroad turn left on the paved road to Šošići and Saranač village. In Saranač village pass the first house on the left side and there is the crossroad. Turn left on unpaved road. On this section it possible to find some gate or similar obstacle on the road. It is used only for the cattle, so open it, than close and proceed straight. Keep the ride on the unpaved road for around 7,5km and than follows the crossroad with the paved road coming from the main entrance of Nature Park Biokovo. The crossroad is near Sv. Ilija chapel. Turn right to the peak Sveti Jure. The paved road leads directly to the peak. This section is 16km long. Around 2km before the peak starts a steep ascent. On the peak Sveti Jure there is a radio relay station and tower. For come back I used the same way except at the crossroad near Sveti Ilija chapel I rode straight to the Makarska on the paved road.
