Overview of mountain biking route:

The mountain bike route Blato – Pomena is situated on The Island of Mljet. The west region of Mljet belongs to National Park Mljet. Most of sections of the route leads along The National Park Mljet. The route is dry and rocky. The first and last sections are placed on the paved road. The route leads along the coast of The Small Lake and The Great Lake with . The lakes are linked with the sea by the channel. The Saint Mary Island and Benedictine monastery are situated in The Great Lake. In Pomena bay and village there are a hotel and a small port. The route can be combined with Pomena – Montokuc and Polače – Goveđari routes.

Getting there: Europe, Croatia, Dubrovnik or Split, Pelješac, Sobra (Mljet), Blato village.

Description of MTB route:

The starting point of Blato – Pomena route is Blato village. From Blato proceed on the paved road to Pomena or Goveđare direction. At the saddle turn left on the carriageway. The entrance of the carriageway is closed by the ramp to stop the cars only. The carriageway leads straight to The Great Lake and Soline village. In the GPS tracklog and on Map is added the section to Grabova bay too. Along the north coast of The Great Lake there is the labeled singletrack placed just few meters near the paved road. The trail leads along the coasts of The Great Lake and than to The Small Lake. The most west section of the route is placed on the unpaved road along Pomena bay. From Pomena the route leads back to Blato along Goveđari, Polače and Kozarica villages. The singletrack from Polače to the east course is steep and very rocky. If you want your can combine many other labeled paths in The National Park Mljet. There are many junctions on the trail. The last section from Kozarica to Blato is placed on the paved road. Notes & references:

The best time for ride: winter, spring or fall. During summer time is very hot. The entrance fee is charged in The National Park Mljet. Be careful riding on the singletracks because during summer time there are many hikers. GPS unit with uploaded route is a must. With The Map of The Island of Mljet the routes can be easy combined.
