| The carriageway section |
MTB route Mostar - Brasina is situated on Velež mountain in south Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mostar town, the starting point of the route is situated on the west side of Velež mountain. There is Neretva river too. The highest point of the route is Brasina peak at elevation of 1897 meters over the sea level. Brasina peak is a nice sightseeing point with the opened view to Prenj mountain and Neretva valley. The route is fast an easy for navigation. The carriageway sections are dry and rocky. Due to deep gravel on some carriageway sections mounting of wide tyres 26" x 2.35" is recommended.

The starting point of the route is on the east side of Neretva river in Mostar town. Coming from Sarajevo direction or north Mostar turn left at this junction on the highway. The paved road with the gradually ascent proceeds to the west side of Velež mountain. Keep straight for about 12.4km and than turn left on this junction. The steep and rocky carriageway leads to the north west course. At elevation of about 1350 meters over the sea level, on the right side of the trail there is a water tank. If you need water be careful, use some filter to prepare the water for drinks. About 200 meters from the water tank to the south course there is Brasina shelter. Proceed on the carriageway to the north west course and than turn sharp right at the next junction. The steep ascent leads directly to Brasina peak at elevation of 1897 meters over the sea level. From Brasina peak you can get a nice view on Neretva valley and Prenj mountain. Due to hazardous area (mine fields) at Brasina peak do not hike or ride outside of the carriageway. For comeback I rode on the same trail.
Notes & references
The route is recommended during Fall. During summer time is very hot. Take enough drinks. Due to deep gravel on some carriageway sections mounting of wide tyres 26" x 2.35" is recommended. Due to hazardous area (mine fileds) at Brasina peak do not hike or ride outside of the carriageway.
